My name is William Ruby. and my Silicon Valley story starts at Intel, where I worked on the original Pentium processor design team after graduating with an MSEE from USC back in 1989. Late one evening I came up with an interesting idea for the cache control logic. That became the Intel patent 5,471,605. Following Intel, I have spent four years at Siemens Pacesetter (later acquired by St. Jude Medical, and then by Abbott) working on IC designs for pacemakers and learning low power IC design.
After getting my MBA in 1996, I was eager to dive into the business side of technology. Leveraging my low power design experience, I embarked on a 20 year journey in marketing and sales positions with both established and startup EDA companies developing tools for low power design: EPIC (acquired by Synopsys), Sequence (acquired by Apache and then by ANSYS), Golden Gate Technology, and Cadence. Those industry-standard tools included PrimePower (PrimeTime-PX) and PowerTheater/PowerArtist. Here are some articles I have written that discuss various aspects of low power design:

At System2Silicon, I am passionate about enabling system companies who are new to IC design, as well as early stage semiconductor companies, to be successful with the latest EDA tools, methodologies, and IP. A key area of special expertise is Low Power and Energy Efficient Design, from RTL to implementation and signoff. I also work with emerging companies to help with early sales and marketing efforts, including market research, business plan development, and investor presentations.
